Job Description

The Medical Assistant Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The role supports clinicians and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating the patient population. Responsibilities include performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This position requires the flexibility to work in various offices to support either the Medical Assistant role or dedicated lab duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide team-based patient care under clinician supervision.

  • Support chronic disease management and patient examinations.

  • Perform laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.

  • Float between various offices as needed to support clinical operations.

  • Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

  • Assess emergencies and act accordingly.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements.

  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices.

  • Phlebotomy skills.

  • Ability to take vitals, with preference for manual vitals.

  • Active BLS certification.

  • Active driver's license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HS diploma required.

  • 2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare setting.

  • Certified Medical Assistant certification/license/diploma required.

  • Phlebotomy experience required.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with TriMed EMR is preferred.

  • Ability to float between locations as patient demand requires.

  • Flexibility to adjust to changing work environments.

Work Environment

  • This position is 100% onsite, requiring the ability to float between Midtown, Miami Beach, Brickell, and Coral Gables offices. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and every other Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM. Week 1 consists of 42.5 hours, and Week 2 consists of 46.5 hours. Travel between clinics is compensated at $0.67 per mile, and a $20 gas card is provided when floating outside of core locations. The position offers the opportunity to go permanent and includes training on manual vitals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30000.00 - $40000.00/yr.
