Within our PPD clinical research portfolio, we support laboratory, digital, and decentralized clinical trial services across 100+ countries. As we continue to evolve our operating models and frameworks, we are seeking a Senior Optimization Specialist to help bring clarity, consistency, and efficiency to how work gets done.

As a Senior Optimization Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert in process optimization and operational modeling. You will design, document, and improve business processes to support quality, compliance, audit readiness, and effective decision-making. This role partners closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into structured, usable models and drive continuous improvement across globally distributed teams.

What You'll Do:

• Document, maintain, and govern end-to-end business processes and data flows using standardized modeling tools, ensuring consistency, traceability, and readiness for analysis or optimization.

• Translate current-state and future-state processes into clear visual models that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and business decision-making.

• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design, optimize, and improve processes, systems, training, and communications aligned to strategic initiatives.

• Lead small to medium-scale process improvement initiatives, from problem definition through solution design and implementation.

• Analyze process performance, identify gaps or risks, and prioritize improvement opportunities based on business impact and compliance needs.

• Review and guide updates to procedural documentation to ensure alignment with defined processes and regulatory expectations.

• Develop supporting materials, presentations, and tools to enable adoption and sustainability of optimized processes.

• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, promoting consistent process standards and best practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, engineering, life sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Five or more years of experience in process analysis, process mapping, data modeling, or operational optimization within complex or regulated environments.

• Demonstrated experience translating business processes and requirements into structured models, diagrams, or frameworks used for analysis, optimization, or system design.

• Experience supporting clinical research or other regulated industries is preferred.

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong understanding of process improvement principles and operational optimization methodologies.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.

• Ability to influence, collaborate, and build alignment across cross-functional and multicultural teams.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively.

• Experience working with clinical or operational systems and strong overall technical aptitude.

• Sound judgment, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.

• High attention to detail balanced with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
