Overview of the Role
Our internal healthcare agency client is seeking anAccount Manager IIIto lead complex pharmaceutical accounts within a highly regulated, fast-paced in-house agency environment. This role owns strategic account leadership, client relationships, and delivery of integrated marketing initiatives, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders, Project Managers, and creative leadership.
At this level, the Account Manager is expected to set the tone for account execution, anticipate client needs, influence strategy, and mentor junior team members. Success requires deep pharmaceutical marketing expertise, executive-level communication skills, and the ability to manage risk, scope, and financials across large portfolios.
The Basics
- Duration: 1 year
- Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- Location: Hybrid, based in Lake County, IL (Mettawa area)
- Onsite Requirements: 3 days onsite per week (Tuesday through Thursday, flexible); remaining days remote
Top 3 Required Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of experience leading complex accounts within a pharmaceutical or healthcare agency environment.
- Advanced understanding of brand strategy, regulatory processes, and omnichannel marketing execution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead client relationships, influence stakeholders, and guide teams through complex initiatives.
Other Qualifications
- Bachelor degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred
- Experience in multiple therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience, or immunology a plus
- Proven ability to manage large, high-volume account portfolios
- Strong financial acumen, including forecasting and reconciliation
- Experience mentoring and developing junior account team members
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as senior strategic lead and primary contact for assigned brand accounts.
- Guide development of account strategy aligned to brand and business objectives.
- Lead high-level client communications and presentations.
- Oversee creative development and ensure work meets strategic, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Partner with Project Managers to manage scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Own forecasting, budgeting, and financial reconciliation for accounts.
- Identify risks and opportunities across portfolios and proactively address them.
- Mentor and support junior Account Managers and account team members.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory standards.
In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including medical data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment. Additionally, drug products may be present in the workplace.
