Solstice Advanced Materials Construction Manager in Metropolis, Illinois
The Construction Manager will be responsible for total delivery of services safely, on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations on moderately complex projects. Work at this level requires progressive experience in construction management and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, execution, and completion of large‑scale industrial construction projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient field execution.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget through effective coordination of subcontractors, field resources, specialized equipment, and project controls.
Provide strong safety leadership in high‑hazard industrial environments, enforcing site safety programs, OSHA and environmental regulations, and company standards.
Perform safety walkthrough with Operations and ensure Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)/Preparations meet the project work scope.
Performs and participates in construction Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) for project after field execution has been completed.
Participate in and lead construction safety audits (CSA), contractor audits, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and contractor safety meetings; initiate and conduct contractor stand‑downs for safety violations.
Oversee day‑to‑day site activities, including jobsite walkdowns, constructability reviews, and coordination with contractors, engineering, and project management teams.
Interpret and apply P&IDs, layouts, process flow diagrams, specifications, and issued‑for‑construction documents.
Verify all construction work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, standards, procedures, and site‑specific requirements.
Work with multi-discipline teams to properly design as necessary and safely execute project activities.
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), including timely review, response, and coordination with engineering and project teams.
Facilitate change management activities, including identifying field changes and interferences, supporting change order development through trades and engineering, and assisting with change order estimating and negotiations.
Support project cost and schedule control efforts, including construction budgeting, change tracking, progress measurement, and forecasting based on field data.
Review and approve contractor daily timesheets and Daily Construction Reports (DCRs); analyze reports to track productivity, progress, and emerging risks.
Assist Project Managers with bid walks, scope clarification, contractor evaluations, and preparation of budgetary and firm construction proposals.
Monitor and review contractor construction schedules, support look‑ahead planning, and assist with schedule updates and recovery planning as required.
Review weekly and monthly construction reports covering contract status, costs, progress, and potential changes.
Support preparation of work order and construction work packages, submittals, invoices, and documentation required for execution and closeout.
Identify potential construction risks, scope gaps, and execution issues early and support development of mitigation and contingency plans.
Serve as a technical and execution resource to Project Managers, providing field‑based installation support and constructability input.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is highly preferred.
Position requires a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant industrial construction management or project related experience.
WE VALUE
General Contractors License is desirable.
Manufacturing experience in chemical plants preferred
Strong working knowledge of plant operations and processes preferred
Experience with construction management software, scheduling software, and budgeting tools.
Ability to handle stress with poise.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification or equivalent experience implementing productivity / continuous improvement projects

The annual base salary range for this position is $129,850- 162,568. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
