Position Summary Position Summary The operations Intern will support day-to-day execution and continuous improvement across the Hardware and Element value streams at HAFD Metamora, with a primary deliverable of building and deploying a Video Standard Work (VSW) system. The intern will also support KPI reporting, standard work maintenance, material flow basics, and lean sustainment. This position will be based in Metamora, OH and will report to the Plant Value Stream Manager. Responsibilities Responsibilities The Operations Intern will support both value streams with emphasis on Video Standard Work development and deployment. Video Standard Work Design and implement a Video Standard Work system (structure, templates, naming convention, revision control, storage location, access method, and linkage to existing standard work) Capture, edit, and publish short VSW modules for targeted operations (highest volume, highest risk, most defects/rework, new/rotating operators) Build a simple VSW tracking log (operation coverage, owner, revision, training status) Support rollout: point-of-use access (QR codes/visual boards), operator training support, and feedback collection Continuous Improvement/ Lean Sustainment Support 5S audits and sustainment actions Update and maintain standard work documents, visual work instructions, and point-of-use labels Assist with time studies, observations, and waste-walk documentation Qualifications Education Pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations Management Must be a Junior or Senior status with GPA of 3.0 or higher. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic understanding of operations processes. Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts Must have intermediate computer skills and be able to understand of electronic processing. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and data analytics/Power BI. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
