Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
As a Machinist, you will be responsible for operating CNC machines in a job shop setting to manufacture complex components with tight tolerances. You will work with a diverse range of parts from small to large, ensuring quality and adherence to delivery deadlines. On-the-job training will be provided as needed to enhance your skills.
Responsibilities
Perform advanced setup operations and adjust machine tools based on provided programs.
Operate CNC machine tools to execute complex machining operations on various parts.
Adjust speeds and feeds during operation.
Work from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions.
Check parts for conformance to specifications.
May operate multiple units simultaneously.
Perform multiple setups, offsets, and program edits using G&M codes.
Handle tool changes and maintain multiple runs concurrently.
Essential Skills
Blueprint reading and print-to-part machining.
Proficiency in GD&T to assess machinability per specifications.
Minimum 4 years of experience in print-to-part machining using CNC mills or lathes.
Minimum 4 years of experience in editing or programming G&M codes with Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, Mazak, or similar controls.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience machining larger parts, 10,000 lbs or more.
Familiarity with Heidenhain or Siemens controls.
Ability to take on new builds and projects daily.

Work Environment
The work environment is a job shop manufacturing floor, featuring exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes, moving machinery, and occasional high decibels. The shop floor is climate-controlled, and PPE is required at all times. Shift options include third shift (Monday-Thursday, 4:15 pm-4:45 am) and weekend shift (Friday-Sunday, 5 pm-5:30 am) with substantial shift premiums. The company operates large manufacturing facilities capable of handling massive fixtures and components, building parts for helicopters, naval ships, and large vehicles.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Merrill, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.47 - $36.20/hr.
