Job Description

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsiblities

MSTS is seeking an experienced Fry Cook to join our Housing, Food Services and Custodial Team at the NNSS.

  • Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food items as dictated by supervisor and the standard cycle menus.

  • Cook food using a grill, charbroiler, fryer, oven, roasters, steam kettles and other various cooking equipment

  • Keep work area clean and neat.

  • Measure, mix ingredients according to standard recipe files.

  • Prepares cook to order food items as ordered for lunch and breakfast.

  • Prepare sauces and vegetables as required.

  • Prepares food items for day shift and swing shift.

  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to standard cafeteria recipes using the appropriate kitchen utensils and equipment; adds seasoning to food during cooking.

  • Tests prepared food items to assure quality and expected taste.

  • Checks prepared foods with a food thermometer to ensure proper cooked internal temperatures.

  • Work serving lines as required for lunch and dinner.

  • Maintain a clean-as-you-work environment at all workstations.

  • Take monthly inventories.

  • Work various shifts and locations.

  • Other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Must have 3 years minimum cooking experience.

  • Ability and willingness to work with the public in a congenial and professional manner.

  • Be familiar with HAACP regulations as regards food sanitation and safety.

  • Able to cook food using a grill, charbroiler, fryer, oven, roasters, steam kettles and other various cooking equipment.

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions of this position.

  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job to include occasional lifting and carrying, occasional pushing and pulling.

  • Must be capable of lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

  • Must be able to drive a standard & automatic vehicle.

  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instruction.

  • Must be able to stay on feet for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). Employees reporting to the NNSS will be paid zone pay (additional pay) per hour worked based on Employee's reporting point/location.

  • Work at locations such as but not limited to the forward area of NNSS and Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada is required in support of these functions.

  • Must be willing and able to work varied shifts and locations.

  • Variable days: Monday through Thursday. Possible weekend work on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday.

  • Variable hours: could be 4:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Other shift hours may apply.

  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘ Identity, Credential, and Access Management ,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘ Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors .’
