To support the unprecedented growth of our AI and other services, we are making significant investments in our energy infrastructure, including the development of on-site, behind-the-meter (BTM) power generation.We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to serve as Head of Power Generation. This individual will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Metas power generation assets, from strategy and development to operations and maintenance. The Director will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and sustainability of our data center power supply, enabling Meta to meet its ambitious goals. Director, Power Generation Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive Power Generation strategy that aligns with Meta's overall energy and sustainability goals. This includes evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies (e.g., natural gas turbines, reciprocating engines, renewable energy, battery storage, microgrids, nuclear power, and small modular reactors), identifying and prioritizing new project opportunities, and developing a long-term roadmap for our BTM power portfolio that supports Meta's transition to clean baseload power
Lead the development and execution of power projects, from initial concept and feasibility studies to engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This includes managing all aspects of project development, such as site selection, permitting, and interconnection, as well as negotiating key commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs) and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts
Lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our power generation assets. This includes developing and implementing operational best practices, managing vendor performance, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards
Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including utilities, regulators, technology partners, and local communities. This includes building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, as well as representing Meta in public forums and industry events
Build and lead a high-performing team of energy professionals. This includes recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent, as well as fostering a working environment of innovation, collaboration, and evidenced success
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated understanding of power generation technologies, including natural gas turbines, reciprocating engines, renewable energy, battery storage, and nuclear power. Experience with small modular reactors (SMRs), advanced nuclear technologies, and nuclear project development is highly desirable
Proven track record of developing and executing large-scale energy projects, from concept to commissioning. This includes experience with all aspects of project development, such as site selection, permitting, and interconnection, as well as negotiating key commercial agreements
Leadership and team-building skills, with the capacity to inspire and motivate a team of energy professionals
Communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including executives, government officials, and community members
Business acumen, with the capacity to develop and execute a strategic plan, manage a budget, and make sound business decisions

Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Experience with microgrid design and operation
Experience managing a distributed team
Experience with nuclear power projects, regulatory frameworks, and emerging nuclear technologies such as SMRs
Experience with hyperscale data centers and behind-the-meter power generation
Public Compensation:
$246,000/year to $306,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
