Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs high-speed packaging and production equipment in an industrial soap manufacturing facility. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, equipment rebuilds, and support of production lines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Initial training takes place on a Monday–Friday first shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Install new production lines and components, including AC inverters, drives, motors, and control panels.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on high-speed packaging and processing equipment to minimize downtime.

  • Disassemble equipment and machinery for maintenance, repair, and inspection, and reassemble to proper operating condition.

  • Break down and rebuild valves and related components to ensure proper operation and product quality.

  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to diagnose and correct equipment problems.

  • Work across multiple crafts, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, controls, gearboxes, and circuits, to complete required repairs.

  • Perform corrective actions when equipment is not functioning properly, which may include basic welding or other repair methods as needed.

  • Support PLC and electrical troubleshooting, particularly on first shift, to resolve control and automation issues.

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on production and packaging equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns.

  • Collaborate with production staff to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.

  • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical systems, moving machinery, and pressurized systems.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong electrical and PLC knowledge, particularly for troubleshooting and supporting first shift operations.

  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on high-speed packaging and production equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams.

  • Multi-craft maintenance skills, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, controls, gearboxes, and circuits.

  • Hands-on experience with drives, AC inverters, motors, and control panels.

  • Ability to safely disassemble and reassemble complex machinery and valves.

  • Capability to perform necessary repairs, potentially including basic welding, to restore equipment to service.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to determine and execute the steps needed to resolve equipment issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with high-speed packaging lines in a manufacturing setting.

  • Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team to support production goals.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new equipment, technologies, and procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
