This role is ideal for a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic who enjoys troubleshooting, keeping production running, and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Role Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations. You’ll play a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting production goals, and maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair automated manufacturing and packaging equipment (conveyors, mixers, fillers, packers, etc.)
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues and implement effective repairs
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime
Identify early warning signs of equipment failure and recommend corrective actions
Emergency Response
Respond quickly and safely to equipment breakdowns to restore production
Support off-shift or urgent repairs as needed
Collaboration & Communication
Partner closely with Production, Supervisors, and fellow Maintenance team members
Communicate equipment issues, repair status, and improvement opportunities clearly
Documentation & Compliance
Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements
Safety & Continuous Improvement
Follow all plant safety, lockout/tagout, and machine guarding procedures
Proactively suggest improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance processes
Stay current on new technologies, tools, and best practices through training
Qualifications & Experience
High school diploma or GED required (Technical or vocational training preferred)
2+ years of maintenance experience in an automated industrial or manufacturing environment (Food, beverage, or packaging experience strongly preferred)
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of:
Motors, gearboxes, sensors, conveyors
Pneumatics and basic electrical systems
Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals
Familiarity with industrial safety standards and machine safeguarding
Basic industrial math skills
Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
