Job Title: Electrical Assembly Apprentice

Job Description

Join our training academy as an Electrical Assembly Apprentice, where you will assist in the mechanical and electrical builds of customer products. Gain in-depth training in reading and understanding wiring schematics and diagrams for various voltages, and develop skills in crimping, pulling, terminating, and installing UL panels and subassemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and switchgear systems, focusing on 3-phase power distribution.

  • Pull, crimp, install, and test wiring using point-to-point schematics.

  • Utilize tools such as multimeters, wire strippers, crimpers, and torque wrenches.

  • Perform part replacement on tools as needed and according to schedule.

  • Resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher levels.

  • Work under direct supervision, with frequent monitoring of output.

  • Maintain documentation and update panel layouts as needed.

  • Follow manufacturing protocols and lean production principles.

  • Follow detailed written or verbal instructions, including visual aids, diagrams, and schematics.

  • Ensure assigned area is clean and organized per 5S standards.

  • Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

  • Coordinate with teammates to organize tasks requiring multiple team members to accomplish.

  • Keep inventory personnel informed of spare parts inventory and locations for order fulfillment.

Essential Skills

  • Basic electrical wiring or assembly experience preferred.

  • Strong initiative to learn through in-depth training.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations.

  • Ability and drive to interpret blueprints, graphs, and schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly, electrical, blueprint reading, and schematic understanding.

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, electrical testing, electronics, and control panels.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean, temperature-controlled, and consists of cell stations with large working areas. Teams of 5-7 technicians work together to assemble units according to specifications. Shifts are from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday to Friday for the first week, and from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm Friday to Sunday thereafter. A 15% shift differential applies, with additional pay for meeting attendance and performance criteria. The training lab environment is a classroom setting focusing on safety, electrical wiring, and standard protocols. Employees are provided with all necessary tools and materials for assembly.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
