Job Overview:
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the distribution center, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety across all functions. This role plays a key part in supervising staff, optimizing workflows, and maintaining high standards in shipping, receiving, inventory control, and facility management.
The Assistant Warehouse Manager serves as a critical liaison between warehouse operations and cross-functional teams, including purchasing, transportation, and customer service. In the absence of the Warehouse Manager, this role assumes full responsibility for warehouse operations, staff, and overall facility performance.
Compensation Range: $52,000 - $57,000 /Base Salary
Compensation within range to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge and skills, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and returns
Assist in labor planning, scheduling, and workflow optimization to meet productivity and service goals
Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
Supervise, coach, and motivate warehouse staff to ensure high performance and engagement
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members
Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and leadership
Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and proper stock rotation
Monitor inventory integrity and investigate discrepancies
Support annual physical inventory processes
Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
Promote a culture of safety through training and daily practices
Report and respond to workplace incidents in a timely manner
Ensure proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness of warehouse equipment
Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment
Partner with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
Address operational issues that may impact service levels
Maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders
Monitor key performance metrics and prepare operational reports
Assist in managing labor and operational costs in alignment with budget goals
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations
1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and safety standards
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office
Some college coursework preferred; equivalent experience considered
