Electro Optical Engineer

Job Description

Join our team as an Electro Optical Engineer where you will play a critical role in developing, manufacturing, and supporting cutting-edge infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles, and airborne platforms. As part of our Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business, you will drive technology advancements and ensure the timely and budget-conscious completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of electro-optics and infrared products, systems, or subsystems, including Architectural Design and Requirements Engineering.

  • Complete technical projects independently and provide mentorship and coaching to other engineers.

  • Review customer specifications and requirements to develop cost-effective designs.

  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.

  • Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.

  • Analyze designs as necessary to support program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.

  • Develop prototypes to mitigate key development risks.

  • Communicate effectively with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and customers as required.

  • Participate extensively in the preparation of complex and significant proposals.

  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.

  • Coordinate and confer with technical management, other professionals, and support personnel on technical activities and progress.

  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

  • Attend relevant engineering, customer, or business meetings.

Essential Skills

  • 8 years of experience in Electro-Optics and Infrared Systems.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in analysis, design, development, and implementation of electro-optic and infrared systems/sub-systems.

  • Experience with Architectural Design and Requirements Engineering.

  • Ability to determine system specifications.

  • Proficiency in acquiring hardware, software, or subcontractor services as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

  • Experience with defense, ground vehicle, and airborne platforms.

  • Proficiency in optical engineering, optical design, and laser technologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Matlab and electrical engineering concepts.

  • Experience supporting electro-optical and infrared systems for soldiers, ground vehicles, or airborne platforms.

Work Environment

You will work in a highly collaborative environment involving interactions with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel. The role may involve attending various engineering, customer, or business meetings. The position requires clear communication in both written and oral forms with various stakeholders including manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and customers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Melbourne, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
