Publicis Groupe Senior Performance Manager (Programmatic / Social skew) in Melbourne, Australia

Company description

Performics Australia is part of a Global Performance Marketing Network built for the relentless pursuit of results. We offer full-service Performance Marketing with solutions across paid, owned and earned channels.

We uncover consumer intent for Australia’s premium brands. We drive performance no matter what the KPI and we optimise for action so we can continually improve and deliver exceptional performance.

Our clients and partners benefit from the combined investment and innovation that comes from being a part of Publicis Groupe, the second largest communications company in the world.

Overview

About the role:

As Senior Performance Manager , you’ll lead performance‑led digital activity for a major financial services client, owning categories end‑to‑end and acting as the day‑to‑day voice on the account. You’ll be trusted to run complex work autonomously - from strategy and planning through to optimisation, storytelling, and client recommendations - with the backing of a supportive, high‑calibre Performance team.

This is not a production‑line role. You’ll be expected to think critically, challenge how things are done, and lift the quality of performance thinking, delivery, and client conversations. You’ll spend time both hands‑on in platforms and at a strategic level - connecting performance back to real business outcomes and helping clients make confident, informed decisions.

Just as importantly, this role gives you the chance to be a reliable and trusted partner to your client, confidently leading conversations and guiding decision‑making through insight‑led storytelling. You’ll help coach and develop, contribute to shaping team standards and ways of working, and play an active role in lifting capability across the wider performance team.

If you enjoy client service, value autonomy, and want your work and POV to genuinely matter, this role offers the space and support to do your best work yet.

Your scope will include:

  • Own the end‑to‑end delivery of performance‑led digital campaigns, from planning and forecasting through to optimisation, reporting, and client recommendations.

  • Lead strategic thinking across your categories, ensuring performance activity is aligned to broader business objectives - not just platform metrics.

  • Leading conversations with clients and stakeholders, guiding decision‑making through high level analysis and insightful recommendations.

  • Drive campaign excellence across channels including paid social, programmatic, search, and broader digital, with a strong focus on lead generation and customer growth.

  • Manage and optimise large, complex budgets with a high level of commercial rigour and operational precision.

  • Coach and develop a direct report, providing guidance, quality assurance, and support to lift capability and confidence.

  • Collaborate closely to share learnings, improve ways of working, and raise the bar on performance output.

  • Identify opportunities to innovate - whether through smarter strategies, improved reporting narratives, or more efficient systems and processes.

What you’re looking for

  • A culture where you feel empowered to seek out challenges and a network that supports industry leading flexibility.

  • To become a key contributor across larger-scale client accounts while learning from and working with some of the best in the industry.

  • A range of development and learning opportunities that fit into your working week, complement your career path and deliver value when you put them into practice.

What type of person will be successful in this role

  • Strong experience managing performance‑led digital media campaigns in an agency or in‑house environment.

  • Proven capability across Paid Social and Programmatic, with a solid understanding of search (hands‑on Search expertise is beneficial but not essential), however we are open to considering candidates who have expertise across either Programmatic or Social channels, with ambition to expand their skillset.

  • Some experience owning client relationships and confidently engaging with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate data and analytics into clear, meaningful insights and recommendations.

  • Comfortable balancing hands‑on platform work with strategic oversight and leadership responsibilities.

  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members, with a genuine interest in developing others.

  • Financial services or lead‑generation experience is advantageous, but not essential.

  • Experience working on platforms such as DV360, Google Ads, Meta Ads, The Trade Desk, or TikTok Ads.

  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office programmes, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Comfortable and professional when communicating with clients and third parties.

  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in analysis, documentation, or execution of tasks.

  • A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, methodologies, or industry trends, with ambition to learn & grow in the performance/digital space.

  • Self-starting, resilient, and able to thrive in a fast-changing role.

  • Manages time effectively to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work output consistently.

  • Actively collaborates with team members and broader agency, sharing knowledge, insights, and best practices. You are team-oriented and keen for others to succeed with you.

  • Demonstrates a proactive and problem-solving mindset, identifying challenges and proposing effective solutions or alternatives.
