IBM Australia is seeking an experienced Integration Architect to design and deliver enterprise‑scale integration solutions on AWS, supporting major transformation, cloud migration and platform modernisation programs across asset‑intensive and regulated industries.
Role Overview
As an Integration Architect, you will lead the architecture, design and delivery of enterprise integration solutions across cloud, hybrid and on‑premise environments. Your focus will be on enabling secure, scalable, API‑led and event‑driven integration between enterprise platforms, cloud‑native applications, SaaS products and operational systems.
You will work across AWS cloud environments, supporting integrations involving ERP, asset management platforms, GIS, IoT/telemetry systems, data platforms and external partners. The role operates at both a strategic architecture and hands‑on delivery level, contributing to national‑scale public and private sector programs.
Your role and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Integration Strategy & Architecture
Define enterprise integration strategies and target‑state architectures aligned to client business and transformation objectives
Design integration roadmaps covering cloud, hybrid and multi‑platform environments
Develop and maintain enterprise integration patterns, reference architectures and standards
Produce architecture artefacts including high‑level designs (HLDs), low‑level designs (LLDs), interface specifications and reference models
Participate in architecture review boards and solution assurance activities
Integration Architecture on AWS
Architect and deliver API‑led integration solutions using REST/JSON and modern integration principles
Design event‑driven architectures using messaging, streaming and asynchronous integration patterns
Implement secure, scalable integration platforms on AWS, leveraging:
API management and gateway services
Serverless and container‑based integration runtimes
Messaging and event services
Design and implement AWS networking patterns including VPC connectivity, private endpoints, routing and security controls
Embed non‑functional requirements including availability, resilience, performance, monitoring and disaster recovery
Platform & Application Integration
Design and deliver integrations between enterprise platforms including:
ERP systems
Asset and operational platforms
GIS systems
IoT, telemetry and OT platforms
Data lakes, analytics and reporting solutions
Enable secure external integrations with partners, vendors and third‑party services
Support legacy‑to‑modern integration scenarios during cloud migration and application modernisation programs
Cloud Migration, Modernisation & Enablement
Support enterprise migration programs by defining integration architectures for re‑host, re‑platform and re‑architect initiatives
Simplify and modernise integration landscapes using cloud‑native patterns
Establish CI/CD pipelines for integration workloads, enabling automated build, test and deployment
Embed DevSecOps practices across integration solutions
Drive observability, logging and operational health across integration platforms
Governance, Security & Standards
Define integration governance frameworks, standards and design guardrails
Ensure alignment with enterprise security, IAM, data protection and regulatory requirements
Apply best practices for credential management, encryption and secrets management
Support compliance, audit and operational readiness for integration solutions
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
Act as a trusted integration advisor to executives, program leaders and delivery teams
Translate business and operational requirements into robust integration solutions
Collaborate with application, cloud, data, cybersecurity and operations teams
Mentor developers, engineers and junior architects in integration and cloud best practices
Required technical and professional expertise
Required Skills and Experience
Professional Experience
8-10+ years’ experience in enterprise IT
5+ years in Integration Architecture, Solution Architecture or related roles
Proven experience delivering large‑scale integration solutions in complex enterprise environments
Experience working in asset‑intensive, regulated or large public‑sector organisations is highly desirable
Integration & Middleware Skills
Strong experience designing API‑led and event‑driven integration architectures
Experience integrating IBM Maximo and/or Maximo Application Suite (MAS) into enterprise ecosystems
Knowledge of Maximo integrations including REST APIs, MIF and enterprise connectors
Experience integrating across cloud, hybrid and on‑premise environments
Deep understanding of synchronous vs asynchronous integration patterns
Experience integrating ERP, asset management, GIS, IoT and data platforms
Ability to design scalable interface contracts and integration standards
AWS & Cloud Platform Skills
Strong hands‑on AWS experience across compute, networking, storage and security
Experience architecting multi‑account AWS environments and hybrid connectivity
Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, OpenShift, EKS)
Understanding of cloud‑native architecture principles including high availability and disaster recovery
Experience implementing secure IAM, encryption and secrets management solutions
Other Requirements:
Australian Citizen and eligible to work on secure projects.
Willing to travel mostly interstate as/when required.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Experience with MuleSoft Integration into enterprise ecosystems
Experience integrating other enterprise and SaaS platforms is equally applicable and encouraged
