Robert Half Staff Accountant in Mechanic Falls, Maine
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting operations for a textile manufacturing organization in Maine. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone who can manage core financial activities with accuracy, maintain strong records, and contribute to timely reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on accounting experience, sound tax knowledge, and the ability to work effectively within a structured finance environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to keep financial records accurate, complete, and current.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reliable reporting.
• Support corporate tax activities, including the preparation and review of tax-related schedules and documentation.
• Manage sales tax processes by maintaining records, validating calculations, and assisting with filings.
• Contribute to the preparation of corporate tax return materials by gathering data and organizing supporting information.
• Use NetSuite to process accounting transactions, maintain financial data, and generate routine reports.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to help meet reporting deadlines.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve day-to-day financial accuracy. Requirements • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Knowledge of corporate tax principles and related accounting practices.
• Hands-on experience with sales tax administration and supporting compliance activities.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Familiarity with corporate tax return support and financial documentation.
• Proficiency using NetSuite in an accounting environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy.
