Manpower Engineering is exclusively partnering with a very reputable, established and growing construction company/general contractor in McFarland, WI on a highly visible and direct hire/permanent Assistant Project Manager – Commercial & Industrial Buildings position that’s available due to continued growth and has strong development and advancement opportunities. This role is a development position designed to build future Project Managers through increasing responsibility and ownership. Experience as an Assistant/Associate Project Manager or related position in the construction industry is required. Experience with commercial and industrial buildings and/or Procore is a plus.

Compensation Plan: Depending on qualifications/experience, this opportunity can offer up to a base salary of $100,000 plus quarterly projects bonus.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Project Manager – Commercial & Industrial Buildings supports the Project Manager and Superintendent in the administration, coordination, and financial control of commercial construction projects. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate project documentation, supporting cost and schedule controls, and helping drive issue resolution to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Project Administration & Documentation:
Maintain Server Folder Structure/Documentation consistently across all jobs.
Maintain complete and accurate project records (contracts, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes).
Support contract compliance and document control processes.
Ensure timely distribution and tracking of project correspondence.
Financial Support & Cost Control:
Assist with budget setup, cost coding, and cost tracking.
Review subcontractor invoices and pay applications for accuracy and compliance.
Assist with owner billings and change order tracking.
Maintain updated cost-to-complete data for PM review.
Schedule & Coordination Support:
Assist in maintaining the project schedule and milestone tracking.
Track procurement logs, long-lead items, and delivery dates.
Support look-ahead planning and coordination with field supervision.
Flag schedule risks and constraints early.
Facilitate all OAC meetings, with meeting minutes communicated to stakeholders.
Change Order Management & Risk Tracking:
Track change order status and cycle times.
Maintain issue logs and support PM risk mitigation efforts.
Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination:
Track subcontractor compliance (insurance, safety, & pre-qualifications).
Support subcontractor communication and coordination.
Quality & Compliance & Close-Out Support:
Assist with quality control documentation and deficiency tracking.
Support project closeout including O&M manuals, as-builts, and warranties.
Ensure punch list items are tracked and resolved.
All “As Built” information on the server as a package.
Training & Communication:
Procore Champions for office and Field Team.
Project Issues/deadlines/toolbox talks/weekly cadence.
Toolbox talk documentation / retention.
Team & Professional Development:
Support PMs and Superintendents with day-to-day project needs.
Participate in project meetings and internal reviews; producing timely meeting minutes.
Actively develop skills in cost control, scheduling, contracts, and communication.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) is a plus.
Experience as an Assistant/Associate Project Manager or related position in the construction industry.
Experience with commercial and industrial buildings is a plus.
Experience with the project management software Procore is a plus.
Skills in project coordination and construction management.
