Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for storing, moving, and handling products and materials. Material Handlers work in a structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Material Handlers will need to be reliable and able to always work with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). When not Material Handling will work in Mixing Department to prepare products according to standard recipe requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies, transports, packs, removes and disposes of products and materials.
Operates forklifts, handcarts, or pallet jacks to pick, replenish, shuttle, and load/unload orders.
Maintain inventory levels as directed.
Feed lines with product as scheduled or directed by supervision or line leads.
Ship and receive materials throughout duration of shift.
Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
Count, weigh, record numbers of units or materials moved or handled.
Ensure that product moved is identified and labeled correctly.
Perform required housekeeping to maintain 5S and keep work areas clean, such as sweeping floors, putting trash into containers, and picking stray product up from the floor.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Operates commercial grade mixing equipment with computerized control systems.
Must have strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Responsible for alerting Operators, Leads or Supervisors of any quality or safety issue.
Responsible for always working safely.
On the floor 100% of shift.
Other duties as needed.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Must be knowledgeable in GMPs or the willingness to learn.
Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days.
Ability to operate sit-down, stand-up and extended forklifts.
Must have the ability to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
Ability to use hands and fingers.
Ability to see, hear and talk.
Lift/carry up to 100 lbs.
Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
Able to walk up to 400 yards to work areas.
Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Sufficient math skills; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Able to stand eight hours per shift.
Repetitive reaching over head, under and across throughout shift.
Push/pull items up to 2600 lbs. with assistance.
May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
