Job Summary and Qualifications
The Pathology and Clinical Lab Supervisor is a Bachelor’s prepared Medical Technologist who plans, organizes and directs the activities of the laboratory in accordance with regulatory guidelines. The scope of this role includes the performance of diagnostic tests and process procedures, development and implementation of policy and procedures and coordination of laboratory activities with other departments and organizations.
What you will do in this role:
Demonstrates superior clinical laboratory skills and critical thinking
Performs technical procedures proficiently in accordance with laboratory standards.
Establishes and maintains a Quality Control Program appropriate for testing performed.
Establishes parameters for accepted levels of performance and ensures these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from initial receipt of specimen through sample analysis and reporting of results.
Ensures enrollment in proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered.
Participates in preparation of the Laboratory for CAP and JCAHO Medicare inspections.
Verifies the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control values prior to reporting patient test results.
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration procedures related to each test performed.
Resolves technical problems, ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from laboratory’s established performance specification.
Ensures proper specimen collection, identification, labeling and tagging of patients and samples.
Is knowledgeable of factors that influence test results.
Reports critical results to appropriate personnel
Reviews all reports sent out by subordinates to verify accuracy
Assumes responsibility of being captain of wellness team.
Performs phlebotomy accurately and efficiently 95% of time
Actively pursues continued education to maintain superior knowledge base
What qualifications you will need:
(MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist
Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree
No Travel Required
