U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Surveillance Inspector in McAlester, Oklahoma

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as a Surveillance Inspector conducting statistical sampling, inspection, and initial serviceability assignment actions incident to a wide variety of plant surveillance operations involving material and munitions. Responsibilities Monitor open detonation and burning operations in accordance with regulatory guidance. Monitor the removal of components from an end item making it more efficient and safer to demilitarization. Inspect out bound and inbound conveyances prior to and after loading to ensure conformity with drawings, regulations, and DOT/UN requirements. Inspect ammunition storage structures to assure safe storage, identify structural deterioration and monitor correctness of gridding inventory and security practices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Surveillance Inspector without more than normal supervision. Must possess the common duties of inspection of components materials. I can perform surveillance inspection of munitions components and explosives materials; plan inspection sequence and designate inspection points; conduct in-process, standard sampling, and visual and dimensional inspection in connection with field and plant inspections. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting items weighing up to approximately 65 pounds (occasionally over 65 pounds). Duties require manual dexterity; mental visual and muscular coordination use of both hands and freedom from color blindness. Incumbent may be required to maintain a rapid work pace depending on work situation. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. Most buildings are with little or no heat. Frequently work is of a dirty and/or noisy nature. Incumbent may be exposed to weather or other extremes and must wear protective clothing such as safety shoes, face shields, goggles, car plugs, respirators, heavy gloves, protective masks and toxicological and protective (TAP) clothing/equipment. Is subject to exposure to acids, alkali explosives, paint, dirt, dust, grease, noise and a variety of potentially hazardous machines/equipment. Possible injuries range from minor cuts and bruises,; to loss of limbs, eyes or life. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
