Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plant machines and equipment to ensure they operate safely, reliably, and at full productivity. This role focuses on both electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics, in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair plant machinery and equipment to maintain full productivity and minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including working with voltages up to 480 volts.

  • Wire, install, and maintain 3-phase motors and related electrical components.

  • Perform PLC troubleshooting to identify faults and support efficient machine operation.

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair conveyor systems and other production-related mechanical equipment.

  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable and safe performance.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce unexpected breakdowns.

  • Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to supervisors and production teams.

  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.

  • Strong electrical skills, including working safely with up to 480 volts.

  • Ability to wire and troubleshoot 3-phase motors.

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in a production environment.

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on conveyor systems.

  • Practical experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical information related to equipment and systems.

  • Commitment to following safety procedures when working with electrical and mechanical equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • An associate degree or technical degree in a related field is a strong plus but not required.

  • Experience in an automotive or similar industrial manufacturing environment is beneficial.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including 2nd or 3rd shift, and train on 1st shift if needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in an automotive manufacturing environment with active production equipment and machinery. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons, though conditions are not described as extreme. Openings exist on all shifts, with most positions likely assigned to 2nd or 3rd shift, and training may occur on 1st shift. You will work around conveyors, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled equipment, following appropriate safety procedures and wearing standard industrial work attire and protective equipment as required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mc Calla, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr.
