GS: $89,508 to $116,362 Responsibilities You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the HYDRAULIC and SHIP CONTROL SYSTEMS BRANCH (CODE 254) of the SOUTHEAST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER (SERMC) located in MAYPORT, FL. You will serve as Team or Group Leader providing technical oversight and immediate authoritative technical assistance on urgent mission degrading casualty reports (CASREPs) or similar problems You will troubleshoot, repair, and test Steering gear, elevators, Boat Davits, Anchor Windless and Capstans, Fin Stabilizers, Controllable Pitch Propeller, Auxiliary Propulsion Unit (APU), pneumatic, hydraulic or chain driven hoists and cranes. You will troubleshoot, repair, and test Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Chain Driven systems, hydraulic piping systems, and each system’s associated components. You will participate in data collection and integral data analysis efforts as directed to evaluate performance characteristics, assess improvements, record trends, etc. You will perform functional checkout, refinement, adjustment, and tests of new or modernized shipboard systems in an operational evaluation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a GS-12, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines (such as electrical, electronic, mechanical, structural, etc.) Experience resolving complex problems of assigned equipment systems to meet operational schedules. Experience applying knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.
