*Summary/Objective *
Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing education, training, support
and advocacy services, empowering individuals with Intellectual/Developmental
Disabilities to exercise their rights and responsibilities as citizens of the community.
DSPs are responsible for safely transporting individuals with intellectual/developmental
disabilities. The ability to work a flexible schedule is required. Direct Support
Professionals will be expected to work in sites overseen by the Epilepsy Center.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to
perform the essential functions.
? Provide safe transportation of clients to and from home, adult day services,
appointments, and/or work assignments.
? Comply with all local, state and federal transportation laws and regulations.
? Carries out individual habilitation programs for assigned individuals and follows site
schedules.
? Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training, accepting
professional and personal responsibility for understanding and application of
meeting and in-service content.
? Reports all changes in physical condition, changes and/or problems in training
programs and other areas of concern regarding the individuals' welfare.
? Promotes and provides active treatment.
? Responsible for the personal care and grooming of assigned individuals, including
special care as directed.

? Complete all documentation daily
? Attends ISP meetings for individuals as needed.
? Participates in all required in-service training.
? Performs routine cleaning tasks for the purpose of infection control, safety, and
overall appearance of the sites/vehicles and reports problems/needs to appropriate
personnel.
? Reports daily events, both written and verbally to the oncoming shift.
? Assists with purchases for the site and individuals.
? Communicates with families and visitors in a professional manner.
? Assists in providing recreation/leisure/community activities for individuals.
? To ensure that individuals are free from abuse and neglect to the extent possible.
? To report to a supervisor immediately knowledge of any situation that may infringe
on or may have infringed on an individual's right to be free from abuse and neglect.
? Follows policies and procedures.
? Performs any other related duties, as assigned by supervisor. Duties, responsibilities
and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
Essential Employee
The Epilepsy Center is a healthcare agency responsible for the continued operation of
services during public safety emergencies, including but not limited to inclement
weather, epidemics and pandemics.
Direct Support Professionals are essential employees and are thereby required to work
during public safety emergencies. Exceptions will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Work Environment
This job operates in a residential and/or vocational setting, and may be required to work
in homes or
