Location: Recovery Campus – Massena, NY

Position: Full-time Family Counselor

Shift/schedule: Sunday-Monday / 3:00p-11:00p and Tuesday-Thursday / 8:00a-4:30p

Pay Range: $45,000.00/yr to $100,000.00/yr

Position Summary: Functions as a family counselor responsible for providing therapeutic family services to residents and their families.

Education and Training: Qualified Health Professional with a bachelor’s degree preferred, and a minimum of three years of experience in the Behavioral Health Care field. Knowledge of substance abuse and family therapy. Applicants with 5 years of experience within the field and a provisional QHP will be considered. Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or other QHP credential as per NY State Officed of alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum of three years of behavioral health care experience or five years in the behavioral health field with a concentration in Family Therapy

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts initial interview with resident and family members as they are available at the time of admission.

  • Conducts all aspects of therapeutic family session’s preparation, groups, and individual family counseling sessions.

  • Facilitates didactic lectures relative to addiction and family dynamics.

  • Assists Counselors in covering groups, individuals, and case management as needed.

  • Responsible for educating family members significant others, and residents about substance use and its effect on the family.

  • Assist participants in the family program with recognizing how they have been affected by and affect others as an effect of chemical dependency.

  • Conducts psychoeducational groups on topics related to health and addiction.

  • Actively participates in team meetings, case studies, staffing, task forces, committees, and quality assurance activities.

  • Assumes responsibilities of Counselor for limited number of residents if needed.

  • May be preform duties as assigned.
