Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role requires strong hands-on machining skills, advanced blueprint reading abilities, and the capability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances while working with a variety of CNC and manual equipment.
Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to machine parts to precise specifications using G and M code.
Work from blueprints, engineering plans, materials specifications, orthographic drawings, and machining parameters to produce accurate components.
Interpret and apply geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) to ensure parts meet all dimensional and quality requirements.
Operate both CNC and manual lathes and mills to perform turning, boring, milling, and related machining operations.
Use Fanuc and/or Tosnuc controls to set up and run CNC equipment efficiently and safely.
Utilize Mazatrol controls to program and operate applicable CNC machines.
Perform boring operations and other precision machining tasks in line with job specifications.
Set up and run CNC mills and lathes, including machines with 3-axis and 5-axis capabilities.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines and equipment as needed to ensure optimal operation.
Adhere to ISO and AS9100 standards and follow all internal quality procedures and documentation requirements.
Inspect parts during and after machining to verify conformance to blueprints and GD&T requirements, making adjustments as necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience using G and M code for CNC programming and operation.
Proven experience operating CNC machines, including CNC lathes and CNC mills.
Hands-on experience with manual machining, including manual lathes and manual mills.
Experience working with Fanuc controls on CNC equipment.
Experience working with Tosnuc controls on CNC equipment.
Mazatrol experience for programming and operating applicable CNC machines.
Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading, including complex engineering drawings.
Strong understanding and practical application of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Ability to interpret machining parameters and material specifications to achieve required tolerances.
Demonstrated ability to perform boring and other precision machining operations.
Familiarity with Haas CNC machines.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot CNC machines in a production environment.
Commitment to following ISO and AS9100 quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with a variety of CNC machine brands, such as Haas, Hurco, Toshiba, and Shibaura.
Experience working with both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all machining and inspection tasks.
Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and process documentation.
Good problem-solving skills to identify and correct machining issues.
Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple jobs and setups efficiently.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility equipped with a range of modern CNC and manual machines, including Haas, Hurco, Toshiba, and Shibaura equipment, with both 3-axis and 5-axis capabilities. Machinists work hands-on at CNC and manual lathes and mills, utilizing controls such as Fanuc, Tosnuc, and Mazatrol. The environment follows ISO and AS9100 quality standards, with a strong focus on safety, precision, and continuous operation of equipment. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mason, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
