Tool & Die Maker – Job Summary
Responsible for supporting daily tool room operations, including building, repairing, and maintaining tooling and dies to ensure efficient production and parts that meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate, repair, and maintain dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders to machine parts to specification.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and models to determine materials and machining methods.
Measure, mark, and machine metal stock while maintaining tight tolerances.
Assemble tooling components and install hydraulic lines and related components.
Inspect tooling and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
Operate equipment such as cranes, hi-los, and die carts when handling tooling.
Record daily work activity in SAP.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and other safety procedures.
Support quality and environmental standards and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Journeyman Tool & Die certification required.
Minimum of 5 years of tool room experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills
Ability to operate manual machining equipment and precision hand tools.
Strong blueprint reading and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of die repair, rebuilding, and die setup.
Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
Basic computer and communication skills.
Ability to obtain crane and hi-lo certification and work flexible hours as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay ranges from $20–$26 per hour with overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked over 40. Weekly earnings typically range from $1,127.50–$1,485.00 before overtime. Employees are eligible for up to two performance or merit-based pay increases each year (January and July). The benefits package includes 12 paid holidays and 2 weeks of PTO during the first year. Medical, dental, and vision coverage begin on Day 1 of employment and include Blue Cross Blue Shield medical, Delta Dental, and EyeMed Vision. Additional benefits include HSA and FSA options, life and disability insurance, wellbeing and employee assistance programs, and a 401(k) plan with company match up to 4%.
Pay Details: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
