Position Overview:

This position is essential to facilitating and accelerating the turn cycle and ensuring continuous communication with the customer base from pre-to post sale in to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction. Success in this position ultimately results in repeat business due to their influence and role in the customer purchase experience. This sales support function supports the day-today activities of the Domestic Law Enforcement Sales Operations and Sales teams. Tasks include but are not limited to: maintaining departmental records; working with customers to make sure that supporting documentation for licenses are correct format as per current Compliance processes; assisting with departmental marketing initiatives; proposal development; and tracking and supporting distributor and warranty center issues. Relationship development, customer interface, initiative and critical problem solving will occur daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track order submissions sent to the LE Sales Team and coordinate entry of orders with the Order Management Team.

• Liaise with the customer if changes are required such as product availability SKU changes, and price changes to obtain Order Confirmations.

• Review and receive license documents from the customer.

• Ensure compliance with all internal and U.S. Government regulations concerning commerce of firearms, spare parts, accessories and handcuffs.

• Assist the Sales Managers with account management which will often include troubleshooting and problem solving for unique, market specific issues that inherently arise on a regular basis.

• Monitor the LE sales reports for expiring licenses and coordinate new license requests based on need.

• Work closely with the Trade Compliance Department to complete license application requests for export orders, training events, trade shows, tender samples, and technical data requests.

• Create all new customer and freight forwarder requests in accordance with the company's due diligence process.

• Act as custodian of LE branded marketing materials; this includes inventory management, dispersing materials to distributors as needed, and working with Marketing when reordering is necessary.

• Manage the issuance of LE distributor, representative and warranty station agreements. This shall include ensuring the accuracy of the contracts database, distributing new agreements, following through with appropriate signatures and notifying respective sales manager when an agreement may be nearing expiration.

• Manage the SWC LE web page to include reconciliation of the listed distributor and warranty stations.

• Substantial communication will be required with distributors, customers, freight forwarders, and intercompany departments -- must establish and maintain good rapport and communication with customers from a variety of countries and cultures and provide timely replies to all communication.

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree or equivalent related job training and experience.

Minimum of 2 years of inside sales, customer service and/or high-level administrative experience.

Competencies and Skills:

Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional skills in MS Office Suite -- Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.

Excellent organizational skills.

Must be detail oriented and able to work independently to achieve aggressive task deadlines.

Ability to think critically and creatively through difficult problems requiring timely response.

Physical Demands:

Works in an office environment.

Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Able and willing to travel to distant domestic and international locations.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection (depending on work location) required when on manufacturing floor

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office: Typical office environment and lighting with some exposure to plant environment, with fork lift and other general hazards.

Manufacturing/Warehouse: Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
