CTG Firewall Engineer (Palo Alto / Cisco) in Marysville, Ohio

We are seeking a skilled Firewall Engineer with hands-on experience in Palo Alto and Cisco technologies to support enterprise network security operations. This role focuses on Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), incident response, and maintaining secure, high-availability connectivity across complex environments.

Location: Marysville, OH (also open to candidates located in CA, OH, NC, SC, IN, AL, or GA who can commute and work onsite at a customer manufacturing facility)

Duration: 12 months (possible extension)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and optimize NGFW platforms (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower)

  • Manage firewall policies, NAT, VPNs (site-to-site & remote), IDS/IPS, and threat prevention

  • Monitor and analyze security events using SIEM tools and logs

  • Investigate and resolve network security incidents in coordination with SOC teams

  • Troubleshoot network issues (routing, switching, VPN tunnels, connectivity)

  • Support secure network architecture across on-prem, cloud, and remote environments

  • Maintain documentation and support compliance (NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS)

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3–7 years in network security / firewall engineering

  • Strong experience with Palo Alto (Panorama, GlobalProtect) and Cisco (ASA, Firepower, FMC)

  • Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT

  • Experience with packet capture and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark)

  • Familiarity with SIEM tools (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar)

  • Knowledge of IDS/IPS, DNS security, and threat detection technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: PCNSE/PCNSA, CCNP Security, Security+, CySA+, CEH, or GSEC

  • Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, Ansible)

Additional Requirements:

  • On-call support and occasional overtime/weekend work

  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $39.00 to $47.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
