Clean Harbors InSite Operations Manager I (Project Manager) (Hazardous Materials, Refinery) (TWIC Card Highly Preferred) in Martinez, California
Clean Harbors is seeking an InSite Operations Manager I (Project Manager) to support our on-site hazardous waste program at a large customer facility in Martinez, CA . This is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for the daily execution of the InSite waste program—ensuring waste is handled, tracked, and shipped in compliance with environmental regulations and customer requirements. You’ll work closely with the customer and partnering contractors, providing day-to-day direction and coordination to keep operations running smoothly.

Support the daily and routine waste pickup program across the site, including transfer areas and accumulation locations
Coordinate waste movement requests (bin swaps, pickups, staging changes) and provide strong customer service to the facility
Maintain daily/weekly tracking and documentation (container tracking, service logs, paperwork submissions)
Assist with manifests and shipping documentation, ensuring accuracy and on-time processing
Coordinate with transport providers to schedule drivers and shipments as needed
Support inventory control and supply management, including offloading supply deliveries and storing supplies in the warehouse
Assist with maintaining organization and compliance in waste storage areas (including the 90-day yard and accumulation areas)
Participate in inspections, housekeeping, and compliance checks, escalating issues as needed
Provide day-to-day direction and coordination with contractor teams (including HPC personnel) to ensure tasks are completed safely and correctly
Support special projects and increased activity during turnarounds (occasional off-hours/on-call flexibility may be required)
Other duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred)
Working knowledge of hazardous waste handling and basic compliance concepts (including RCRA fundamentals)
Strong organizational skills and comfort with documentation, tracking logs, and customer communication
Ability to work on-site in an industrial environment and perform hands-on activities as needed
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements (as applicable)
Flexibility for on-call as needed
Preferred Qualifications
TWIC card strongly preferred
OSHA 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER
Experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or other heavily regulated industrial environment
Experience coordinating third-party contractors and managing multiple waste streams
