CITY OF MARSHFIELD Street Maintenance Worker (Seasonal) in MARSHFIELD, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Join our Street Division Team this summer as a seasonal Street Maintenance Worker, supporting the upkeep and operation of the City of Marshfield\'s streets, grounds, and infrastructure. The seasonal role offers hands-on experience and is Ideal for individuals seeking outdoor, team-oriented work with a variety of maintenance and operational responsibilities. This is approximately a 40 hour per week position with a maximum of 600 hours for the season. Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 4:30pm. Regular Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm. The position will be posted until filled. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assist Street crew in maintenance and repair of concrete and asphalt City streets, ditches, sanitary & storm sewers, equipment and buildings. Includes shoveling hot asphalt from path truck into potholes in the street. Assist street staff in cleaning of catch basins and the laying of pipe/tile to improve drainage. Assist street staff in sign installation and maintenance. Includes placement of traffic cones and signs in work zones. Also includes, working with paint to paint crosswalks or centerlines on city streets. Assist street staff in mowing lots and ditches. Includes weed and brush trimming and using a push lawn mower. Assist in general landscaping and gardening in City owned properties. Includes mulching city round a bouts and boulevards. Assist with sign & ROW tree inventory Clean equipment and vehicles as needed. Includes assisting mechanic with repairs when assigned. Assist with shop inventory. Includes record keeping and some data entry and receptionist duties. REQUIREMENTS Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to demonstrate safe work practices. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pound above shoulder height. Ability to work off ladders, etc. Knowledge of the use of hand and power tools. Must be self-motivated and responsible. Must provide own steel toed shoes. Must possess a valid driver\'s license. Must be at least eighteen years of age. WORK HOURS / CONDITIONS HOURS This position is approximately a 40 hour per week with a maximum of 600 hours for the season. Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 4:30pm. Regular Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm. CONDITIONS Generally, staff works outside in various weather conditions throughout the summer. Employees are required to dress accordingly for the elements. Employees are responsible for purchasing their own safety shoes. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Valid driver license. Ability to demonstrate safe work practices. Ability to work on ladders Knowledge of the use of hand and power tools Ability to intermittently sit, stand, walk, bend and lift 50-pound loads.
