Landscaping by J. Michael Sports Field Technician in Marshfield, Massachusetts

NorthEast Sportsfield-Rec is looking for an experienced, hands-on Construction Sports Field Technician to join our team. We specialize in building high-quality baseball fields and athletic facilities—and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to grow a long-term career in the field.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll help lead and execute sports field construction projects while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency on-site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning daily and weekly work schedules

  • Ensuring all work is completed according to project specifications and drawings

  • Leading and working alongside laborers, providing direction and support

  • Tracking crew hours and completing daily job reports

  • Maintaining responsibility for on-site safety and compliance

  • Coordinating with general contractors, superintendents, and project managers

  • Attending weekly job meetings as needed

  • Conducting regular safety meetings with the crew

    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a dependable, experienced field professional who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and working with a high level of accountability.

  • High school diploma required (2-year degree in turf or horticulture preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sports field construction

  • Experience with:

  • Natural field construction

  • Fence and backstop installation

  • Layout, dugouts, bleachers, and concrete work

  • Equipment operation (dozers, graders, laser equipment, excavators, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, grading plans, and elevations

  • Strong communication skills, including working with clients and project teams

  • Comfortable working independently when needed

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

  • Hydraulic license (or ability to obtain within 60 days)

  • CDL Class A or B preferred

  • DOT Medical Card required

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification required for public works projects

  • Experience using mobile work order/job tracking software

  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight for 5+ days when required

  • ASBA and/or NPCAI certification is a plus

    Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Saturdays may be required during busy seasons
