Woodlawn Manufacturing CNC Programmer/Maintenance Technician in Marshall, Texas

  • MUST HAVE verifiable work experience as a CNC Machinist
  • Must have a minimum 3 years of experience programming and maintaining machinery

Responsible for performing machine set-ups, programming and repair to CNC Lathes and Vertical Mills.

Core Responsibilities

  • Technical Interpretation:Analyze complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD/CAM files to understand the precise specifications and tolerances required.
  • Machine Setup:Install and adjust cutting tools, attachments, and work holding fixtures (like chucks and vises) for specific production runs.
  • Programming and Editing:Upload CNC programs and perform real-time edits to G-code and M-code to optimize cutting speeds, feeds, and tool paths.
  • Production Monitoring:Oversee machine operations, adjusting controls manually if the programming is inaccurate or if the machine malfunctions to prevent defects.
  • Quality Inspection:Verify the accuracy of finished parts using precision measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet standards within thousandths of an inch.
  • Maintenance:Perform routine preventative maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn cutting inserts, to ensure machine longevity.
  • Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Math Proficiency:Strong knowledge of shop math, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, for calculating dimensions and angles.
  • Mechanical Aptitude:A deep understanding of how machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders) work and the properties of different materials like steel or aluminum.
  • Attention to Detail:The ability to maintain intense focus for long periods to meet extreme precision requirements.
  • Analytical Thinking:Skills to diagnose mechanical errors or programming "bugs" and find immediate solutions.
  • Education:Typically requires a high school diploma followed by vocational training, an apprenticeship, or a trade school certificate.
  • Technology:Proficiency with CAD/CAM software is considered a plus.

Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Work Environment -- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Education/Skills:

Demonstrated experience in electrical and/or electronic and mechanical maintenance including motors, controls, power supplies, AC/DC theory, power distribution, PLC's, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, power transmission, pumps.

Demonstrated ability to follow all established safe work procedures including, but not limited to personal protection equipment, safety lockout/tag-out, confined space, and elevated work areas.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical parts manuals such as electrical and mechanical diagrams, gages, meters, calipers and other measuring tools.

Use all required hand and power tools including, but not limited to: drill, saw, torch, and jacks, as well as ladders, cranes, forklift, and other maintenance equipment.

Physical Demands - Regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
