Mount Rogers Community Services Board Recovery Aide Mental Health Group Home - Sub-Relief (Marion) in MARION, Virginia

The Recovery Aideprovides direct services to individuals with mental illness and substance abuse issues within a mental health group home. Will provide support and instruction as needed and assist treatment team members in implementing individualized recovery plans. Will complete household duties to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with licensure regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. To provide individualized and group support and training services to adults meeting criteria for the mental health group home in order to promote recovery and meet the program goal of reducing reliance on more restrictive inpatient services. Under the supervision of the house manager, assist in implementing Individualized Recovery Plans, including support, assistance with independent living skills, social skills, personal hygiene, household skills, cooking, nutrition and meal planning education and assistance, and transportation to recreational groups and activities.
  2. To ensure a clean and safe environment by performing such task as fire drills, fire extinguisher checks, house cleaning, grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation.
  3. To participate in the activities of a self-directed team, and as needed, assigned or scheduled, to attend meetings, and trainings events.
  4. To maintain, administer and document medications in accordance with written physicians orders and regulatory standards, and to maintain current certification in the Boards approved medication training program, and to observe persons for potential side effects of medications and to notify appropriate staff if necessary. Administer basic first aid as needed and to maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid and other training required by supervisor.
  5. To appropriately intervene in crisis situations and emergencies, making referrals and seeking consultation from other team members as needed.
  6. To participate with team members in the formulation of person-centered recovery planning. This may also include developing goals, objectives, plans and data sheets in order to provide accurate and comprehensive documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to interact with people in a supportive and therapeutic manner
  • Knowledge of the nature of mental health, mental retardation, and substance abuse disorders
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Able to assist in developing and implementing service plans
  • Skills in data collection
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to work independently and with supervision available at broadly spaced intervals

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

ValidDriver's License and copy of DMV safe driving record
