TRI-RIVERS CAREER CENTER 2222 MARION-MT. GILEAD ROAD MARION, OHIO 43302 VACANCY POSTING FOR PART-TIME ADULT EDUCATION CLASS A CDL INSTRUCTOR(S) QUALIFICATIONS ? Minimum of three years of verifiable, recent over-the-road or relevant commercial driving experience. ? Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record is required ? Strong communication and organizational skills, with an ability to engage adult learners of diverse skill levels. ? Instructional experience in CDL training, driver education, or related transportation fields preferred. ? Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, pre-trip inspections, logbooks, trip planning, and safe-driving practices. ? Availability to fulfill part-time instructional hours, which may include weekdays, evenings, or weekends, as determined by Tri-Rivers Career Center's schedule. ? Must hold or be able to obtain an appropriate Adult Education Ohio Department of Education license or credential. GENERAL DUTIES The Part-Time CDL Instructor(s) will provide high-quality, safety-focused, hands-on instruction in Class A Commercial Driver License training for students. The instructor will prepare students for written and skills testing in accordance with FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards. Key duties include: ? Creating a professional, safety-oriented learning environment that fosters student engagement. ? Delivering instruction that develops both technical driving competencies and workplace professionalism. ? Collaborating with colleagues and administrators to support the philosophy, objectives, and policies of Tri-Rivers Career Center. SPECIFIC DUTIES Curriculum & Instruction ? Deliver classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction aligned with FMCSA ELDT requirements and Tri-Rivers Career Center guidelines. Instruct students on vehicle inspections, backing maneuvers, shifting techniques, trip planning, hours-of-service rules, and road safety. ? Demonstrate professional driving techniques and ensure students operate vehicles safely and confidently. Student Engagement & Support Rev 11.10.25AS 2 ? Use clear, step-by-step instructional strategies to build student confidence and competency. ? Provide constructive feedback and guidance to support student progress toward CDL licensure. ? Maintain open communication with students regarding training expectations, performance, and employability skills. Assessment & Evaluation ? Evaluate student performance through written tests, range evaluations, and road skills assessments. ? Maintain accurate training records, attendance, and progress reports per institutional and state standards. ? Identify areas where students need additional instruction and provide targeted remediation. Safety & Equipment Management ? Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, DOT regulations, and FMCSA guidelines. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all training vehicles and report maintenance concerns promptly. ? Maintain the cleanliness, order, and operational readiness of vehicles and range facilities. Professionalism & Collaboration ? Adhere to Tri-Rivers Career Center policies regarding attendance, schedules, and administrative documentation. ? Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and required professional development for part-time faculty. ? Collaborate with program coordinators and administrative staff to align CDL training with workforce and employer needs. Industry & Credential Awareness ? Stay informed of state and federal CDL regulations, ELDT updates, and industry standards. ? Encourage students to pursue ongoing professional growth and safe-driving certifications beyond CDL lice
