The Opportunity:
The Finishing Utility Level 1 - Material Handler position is responsible for determining the materials necessary for each order and ensuring these materials are available at the gluer before production begins.
Prints labels as needed for order based on information from job jacket.
Prepares the Padlocker Control Information Form and forwards to the Padlocker Operator.
Checks order instructions to verify proper case/pad/scored uboard to pull from inventory.
Use AS400 to locate cases and move to the floor.
Drive lift to warehouse and retrieve cases, bring back to Finishing Department.
Place corrugated at designated areas.
Return excess corrugated to inventory when job is complete.
Reads and understands work schedule to determine the next order for gluing operation.
Verifies number of pallets from Cutting Department with number of pallets to be glued.
Reviews the Finishing instructions in the Order Instructions Display Program for customer specifications and special instructions.
Determines and cuts the correct size layer board, dividers, and uboards that are to be used for the order.
Checks and verifies the order number from the cutting load tag to the job jacket; moves pallet to gluer.
Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.
What you need to succeed:
1-year work related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
On the job training will be required for this position.
Good computer skills
Good problem-solving skills.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Good communication skills
Good mathematical ability, including understanding of measurements.
Attention to detail required, properly filling out documentation and interpreting specific order instructions.
Good organization and time managements skills.
Basic understanding of Zebra label printer, in order to change labels/ribbons.
Ability to work without close supervision.
