DESCRIPTION Director of Activities / Recreation Sippican Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Marion, MA Full-Time, Exempt Position POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning and implementing a therapeutic recreation program that improves the quality of life for all residents of the facility. POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Education / Experience ? Associate degree or bachelor?s degree in a related field preferred. ? Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment. ? Ability to read, write, and understand English; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. ? Fluent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and other office equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Plans, organizes and directs a recreational service program designed to motivate, stimulate, restore abilities, and improve the quality of life for all residents. 2. Oversees, schedules, and recruit volunteers. 3. Assists with facility marketing efforts, developing programs that take residents into the community, bring the public to the facility, and establish an excellent rapport with local groups and the media. 4. Purchases appropriate supplies for the department in accordance with departmental budget, processes, and procedures. 5. Works with residents at bedside with specially designed activities and assists with the transportation of residents to areas where programs are being conducted. 6. Assists with the documentation of resident participation/progress; supervises residents during outings. 7. Conduct assessments with new admissions to document historical interests, hobbies, and abilities as well as current limitations, prognosis, and family/resident expectations. 8. Completes the Therapeutic Recreation portion of MDS. Writes(timely) notes in the resident\'s care plan and participates actively in resident care conferences. 9. Designs, publishes, and implements a varied and rich schedule of activities including large group, small group, one-to-one, and specialized programs for bedfast residents in advance of activities. 10. Implements required programs, maintains thorough records, and achieves individual and facility progress with activities of daily living and other restorative programs. Including adherence to the facility budget, financial transparency, and appropriate reconciliation(s). 11. Administer Resident Trust account: complying with state/federal regulations and policies and procedures. 12. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by the Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
