Somerville Manufacturing Class A CDL Truck Driver in Marietta, Ohio

Position Summary

The Truck Drivers' primary responsibility is to load and deliver our products in a safe and timely manner. During

non- driving periods you will report to the Shop Forman for additional duties as needed

Essential Functions

· Long-distance and local driving

· Communicating and coordinating loads with managers

· Obeying and following applicable traffic laws

· Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle

· Maintaining a detailed log of working hours and fuel purchases in compliance with state and federal regulations,

either using an ELD or paper logs.

· Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.

· Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules

· Complying with truck driving rules and regulations

· Reporting defects, accidents, and violations

· Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)

· Loading trucks with forklifts andor overhead cranes

· Interacting with customers in a professional manner

· Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports

· Maintain paperwork and follow procedures for cargo deliveries.

· Verifying loads for accuracy

· Assisting in the shop with other projects as needed

· Must be well organized, a self-starter and have a strong work ethic

Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and maintain superb accuracy

· Must possess strong problem-solving abilities

· Must use proper phone etiquette and be assertive when dealing with difficult vendors or clients.

· Must be able to use an ELD device.

· Must have thorough knowledge of applicable State and Federal highway laws.

· Must possess the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing.

· Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

· Must possess exceptional customer service skills to meet or exceed customers' expectations.

· Must be able to partner with management to find resolutions to problems.

· Must maintain confidentiality, especially related to sensitive company, customer, and other generally private

information.

· Maintain a current acceptable medical physical exam certificate.

Work Environment

· This position operates in a semi-truck, other vehicles and frequently in the shop. The employee will constantly

be in both standard and automatic transmission vehicles and outdoors daily. The employee is frequently

exposed to cold, hot and wet weather.

and adjusting focus for reading and writing is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close

vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust vision. The

employee is frequently required to stand; sit; walk; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The

employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

· The position frequently requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. This position occasionally requires the

ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.

Education and Experience
