Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

The General Production Worker supports the assembly and testing of precision instruments in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This role follows written instructions and drawings to build products accurately, performs basic testing under guidance, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace while collaborating closely with the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts and finished instruments by following written instructions, drawings, and established procedures.

  • Prepare parts for assembly by counting, organizing, and performing basic visual inspection to ensure readiness for production.

  • Perform basic testing of products and components under guidance to confirm that they function correctly.

  • Identify and report assembly, product, or equipment issues promptly to technicians or supervisors.

  • Complete basic production and test documentation accurately and on time.

  • Use hand tools, basic test equipment, and light production equipment as trained and in accordance with safety standards.

  • Follow all safety, quality, and cleanliness standards throughout the production process.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

  • Participate in training to learn new skills and build technical and product knowledge.

  • Support continuous improvement activities when requested, including suggesting ideas to enhance processes and quality.

  • Assist with other production-related tasks as needed to support the manufacturing team.

Essential Skills

  • Previous manufacturing experience performing repetitive tasks.

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to complete detailed assembly work.

  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.

  • Ability to lift up to 9 lbs repeatedly, up to 200 times per shift, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Capability to perform physical activities such as lifting, kneeling, reaching, and bending throughout the shift.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and testing.

  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Similar production, assembly, or manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Experience using additional measuring tools such as height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges is considered an asset.

  • Detail-oriented approach to following instructions and completing documentation.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks and processes.

  • Demonstrated reliability and competence in meeting production expectations.

Work Environment

The role is based in a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing facility with a collaborative culture that encourages speaking up when you see opportunities for improvement. You will work alongside a production team on the shop floor and in coordination with an additional assembly and office team at a second facility. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional opportunities or requirements to stay until 5:30 p.m. and some weekend work depending on production needs. The position is offered as a 3‑month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance. The work involves using hand tools, precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, and light production and test equipment. The dress code includes safety-toe work boots, with safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust masks, and high-visibility vests provided on site to support a strong safety culture.
