Job Title: Welder Job Description
Candidates will be welding on structural mild steel on trusses and steel stairs/railing. The role requires proficiency in working with thicker metals and full penetration welding. The thickest material involved is 2 inches, primarily custom work, as opposed to production welding. Ninety-five percent of the work involves 5/16 single pass welds, all performed in position without the aid of jigs, fixtures, or turn tables. Parts can range in size from 5-6 feet to 60 feet, and dual shield flux core with .045 wire is used.
Responsibilities
Operate an overhead crane.
Perform plasma cutting on structural steel.
Lift and handle materials around 70 pounds with the use of an overhead crane.
Conduct deep penetrating welds using MIG.
Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in MIG welding and Flux Core on Mild Steel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
Experience with structural welding and layout of stairs and railings based on prints.
Competence in operating welding equipment and handling materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Two-year technical degree or 2+ years of on-the-job experience.
Experience in fitting is a plus.

Work Environment
The position is based in a large, dirtier shop environment. Employees are required to wear a welding helmet and steel-toed boots, with jeans and a T-shirt or sweatshirt as acceptable attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Plain, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
