Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors, is seeking a Senior Principal II Production Support Electrical Test Engineer to join the Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) team within the Advanced Weapons Systems Division in Maple Grove, MN. The ideal candidate will play a key role in creating operations from the ground up within the PGM product line while helping build a team to support end-to-end electrical engineering support and testing at the Maple Grove facility. As a leader in process testing and analysis, this individual will drive solutions to complex manufacturing and product assembly challenges. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality and manufacturing standards, policies, and procedures, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative electrical testing solutions for a high-volume production environment.
As Senior Principal II Electrical Test Engineer with BAE Systems you will:
Translate design requirements into robust production test procedures, equipment, and acceptance criteria for PGM manufacturing
Develop, implement, and oversee electrical test processes, including MIL-STD environmental testing (i.e. vibration, thermal, etc.)
Analyze test data, document results, and validate system performance, safety margins, and quality compliance
Troubleshoot test and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
Work with outside suppliers to develop and build automated test equipment
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and AS9100 quality standards
Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and operation of precision electronic test equipment (i.e. oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
Design and improve test methodologies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability
Support subsystem/system integration, verification, and acceptance testing for components and flight hardware
Interpret engineering drawings and customer requirements to develop test plans and qualification procedures
Provide cross-functional technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams
Apply Lean methodologies to continuously improve manufacturing & testing processes, flow, and efficiency
Work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) with 10 years of production support experience
Strong electrical fundamentals with demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability
Experience with automated test systems, standard test equipment, and testing software/tools
Proficient in use of bench top test instrumentation (i.e. multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) and electrical engineering tools
Proficiency in technical documentation and reporting; strong written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and regulatory/compliance standards
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models (i.e. Creo, Visio, etc.)
Programming experience required with tools such as LabVIEW and Simulink/Matlab preferred
High attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and safety protocols
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities in fast-paced environments
Effective team collaboration and relationship-building across cross-functional teams
Adaptable to new technologies, methods, and continuous improvement initiatives
This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Defense or aerospace experience with knowledge of military specifications, Mil-Spec cabling, and system integration
Experience across design, analysis, testing, integration, qualification, and fielding
3 years Electrical Test Engineering experience with basic coding/scripting (LabVIEW or Simulink/Matlab)
Experience with PLC programming, automated test systems, and test method development for electro-mechanical systems
Proficient in use of test instrumentation (i.e. multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) and electrical engineering tools
5 years electro-mechanical assembly and electronics soldering experience (IPC/J-STD preferred)
Working knowledge of aerospace/defense systems (electrical, controls, avionics, hydraulics, power, structures) and requirements management (traceability, verification, validation)
Experience with CAD and electrical design tools (i.e. Creo) and diagramming tools (Visio)
Familiarity with system modeling, controls architecture, and dynamic/steady-state analysis
Experience developing safe, lean, and effective operator test procedures for complex systems
Knowledge of communications/antenna integration and GPS applications preferred
Strong problem-solving, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
