Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors, is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer to join the Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) team within the Advanced Weapons Systems Division in Maple Grove, MN. The ideal candidate will play a key role in transforming operations within the PGM product line while helping build a team to support end-to-end manufacturing at the Maple Grove facility. As a leader in process innovation across production value streams, this individual will drive solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality and manufacturing standards, policies, and procedures, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
As the Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will
Provide strategic technical leadership on complex projects and align engineering decisions with business objectives
Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, and supply chain to implement and streamline production processes
Develop and optimize electro-mechanical assembly processes, implementing tooling, fixtures and equipment to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety
Identify, design, and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment for new and existing processes
Apply Lean methodologies to improve manufacturing processes, flow, and efficiency
Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and manage capital approvals and spending for manufacturing investments, program and capital
Develop and coordinate equipment preventative maintenance and calibration programs with Maintenance and Quality
Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues with cross-functional teams
Working with Quality Engineering, implement and sustain in-process and final quality control processes/measures and shop floor data collection
Create and maintain manufacturing routings, work instructions, specifications, and engineering changes
Support ERP (Oracle/MES) implementation and execution along with shop floor data collection
Train production personnel on electro-mechanical assembly and soldering best practices
Provide technical support across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management for new and existing programs
Collaborate cross-functionally within Combat Mission Systems (CMS) to implement advanced manufacturing methods
Develop and modify manufacturing and facility layout drawings utilizing Creo and AutoCAD
Work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline
Minimum 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment to include project management experience
Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, drawing standards, and procedures of electro-mechanical assembly and electronics soldering processes with benchtop assembly
Proficiency of MS Office Suite products (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
Excellent planning, time management, organization, and ability to handle multiple assignments
Ability to build and foster strong, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders including colleagues, clients, and partners to achieve common goals and drive successful outcomes
Experience working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation
Experience with developing cost-benefit analysis, ROI, and estimating production standards
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to ensure seamless and effective interaction
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Defense Contracting Experience
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle/MES experience a plus)
5 or more years of electro-mechanical assembly and electronics soldering (IPC and J-STD a plus)
Familiarity with GD&T, blueprint reading, and print tolerances
Professional Certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, CQE, ISO, Problem Solving, etc.)#LI-Onsite #LI-JR1
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118095 - $200762
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
