Transit Team Bus Mechanic in Maple Grove, Minnesota
Job Duties
Maintenance & Repair
Perform routine preventative maintenance on buses and fleet vehicles, including inspections, diagnostics, lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, reliable operation.
Conduct brake inspections and repairs in accordance with MN DOT and FMCSA safety standards.
Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and air‑conditioning systems for optimal passenger comfort.
Complete road calls and emergency repairs to support drivers and keep service running smoothly.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all vehicles meet or exceed MN DOT, FMCSA, and FTA regulatory requirements.
Complete accurate, timely documentation of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Follow all safety protocols, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and shop best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
Identify potential safety hazards and report issues promptly to supervisors.
Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate closely with drivers, dispatchers, and operations teams to understand vehicle concerns and prioritize repairs.
Communicate clearly and professionally about vehicle status, repair needs, and timelines.
Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Tools, Equipment & Technology
Use diagnostic tools, software, and equipment effectively to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper care of tools, equipment, and work areas.
Utilize maintenance management systems (such as Beacon Connect tools, if applicable) to record work and track vehicle history.
Quality & Reliability
Ensure all work is performed efficiently, correctly, and to manufacturer specifications.
Perform post‑repair checks to confirm vehicles are road‑ready, reliable, and safe for passengers and operators.
Help maintain fleet reliability targets to support on‑time performance and rider experience.
