Basic Private Ground-Keeping. Job Description of Private Groundskeeper A Private groundskeeper is to maintain grounds and landscaping at private Residential property or private home for jobs such as planting (when the needs arise), mowing, pruning, and caring for plants, trees(when needed), and lawns. Responsibilities also include clearing snow and debris, maintaining tools and equipment. Essential & Required skills involve operating landscaping equipment, knowledge of horticulture and pest control, strong physical endurance, and attention to detail. Key Duties: Plant Care: Plant, water, fertilize, and trim trees(when the needs arise), shrubs, flowers, and lawns. Lawn Maintenance: Mow, water, and aerate grass, and lay sod if needed. Site Cleanup: Rake leaves, remove litter, and keep walkways clear of debris. Seasonal Tasks: Clear snow and ice, and apply salt during winter months. Required: Attention to Detail: Noticing details like plant health, tidiness of pathways, and proper function of equipment. Communication: Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with employers and colleagues. Required: Physical Demands required: Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor and stand for long periods in various weather conditions. Strength: Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects, sometimes up to 50-75 pounds. Mobility: Bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching to perform tasks. Required: Environmental Exposure: Working outdoors in direct sun, heat, cold, and rain, and being exposed to fumes, dirt, and noise. Preferred, but NOT required: Horticultural Knowledge: Understanding of plant care, soil health, and appropriate techniques for different plants and trees. Preferred, but NOT required Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address issues such as plant health problems, weather challenges, and pest outbreaks.
