Job Title: CDL Class A Driver

Job Description

This position offers a steady CDL Class A driving opportunity based out of Mansfield, OH, with routes primarily between manufacturing facilities and regional destinations across the Midwest and East Coast. You will handle daily deliveries, load and unload freight, and occasionally serve as a back-up driver for longer-haul routes that include limited overnight stays. The schedule typically runs Monday through Thursday with some Fridays, and includes a maximum of three nights per week away from home.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely and efficiently between manufacturing facilities and customer locations in regions such as Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New York (excluding New York City and Long Island), Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC.

  • Complete daily deliveries to locations that may include Toledo, Detroit, Flint, Chicago, and various other regional destinations as assigned.

  • Load and unload trucks each day, including lifting up to 70 pounds and pushing or moving product over 70 pounds with assistance.

  • Operate the vehicle in compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations, maintaining a clear and safe driving record.

  • Serve as a back-up driver for long-haul deliveries when primary drivers are on vacation, out sick, or dealing with family emergencies.

  • Stay overnight on the road up to three nights per week as needed to complete longer routes, typically between Monday and Wednesday.

  • Perform basic vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

  • Use forklifts and other material-handling equipment, when required, to load and unload freight safely.

  • Maintain accurate delivery, mileage, and hours-of-service documentation as required by company policies and transportation regulations.

  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

Essential Skills

  • Valid Class A CDL license.

  • At least 3 years of commercial driving experience.

  • Clear driving record with no major violations.

  • Comfort with overnight stays on the road up to 2–3 nights per week.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds and to push or move heavier product with assistance.

  • Proficiency in operating heavy trucks and commercial vehicles.

  • Experience with loading and unloading freight.

  • Ability to drive safely in a variety of regional and long-haul conditions.

  • Strong focus on safety, compliance, and reliable on-time delivery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with over-the-road routes and multi-day trips.

  • Comfort using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.

  • Familiarity with regional routes across the Midwest and East Coast.

  • Ability to work a Monday–Thursday schedule with some Fridays as needed.

  • Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude.

  • Reliability and flexibility to serve as a back-up driver for long-haul deliveries when required.

Work Environment

This role is based in a family-owned, team-oriented environment with a small group of approximately four drivers, fostering close collaboration and support. The typical schedule runs Monday through Thursday with some Fridays, and includes regional and over-the-road routes with up to three overnights per week. The work is physically active, involving regular lifting and moving of freight. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and open communication while providing a stable, professional setting for experienced CDL drivers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
