Summary

CHS Agriculture is looking for a dynamic and engaging leader that is passionate about developing and growing high performing teams as the Process Operations Supervisor-Acidulation, Fatty Acid and cooling tower systems of our Refining department in the Mankato, Minnesota Oilseed processing facility. This on-site Supervisor will provide for safe and reliable operation of the Acidulation, Fatty Acid and cooling tower processes in support of the continuous (24/7/365) production of soybean products for both internal and external CHS customers.

Primary activities will include ensuring safe working conditions throughout the department and supervisory responsibility of hourly employees. The Acidulation Supervisor will be responsible for safety, regulatory compliance, product quality control, and production volume execution.

The Process Operations Supervisor will report to the Mankato Oilseed Manager, Refinery Operations. This role represents an opportunity for an experienced operations leader to take on their next career challenge and apply managerial skills as the leader of processing units in the Refinery organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Acidulation team by reinforcing a safety-first culture.

  • Ensure compliance and training of department employees and contractors to meet CHS and regulatory requirements in industrial safety (OSHA), and food/animal feed safety and security.

  • Lead department operations while maintaining the efficiency necessary to achieve a high-quality product and maximize profit.

  • Engage with other department leaders regularly to coordinate production activities in support of reliable plant operation.

  • Support the work of maintenance and reliability preventative activities for continuous improvement of assets.

  • Support the Ag engineering team to co-develop projects which provide new facility capabilities aligned with product line strategy.

  • Participate in department financial budgeting and forecasting activities.

  • Consistently apply reward, training, or corrective actions as appropriate to employees’ performance in delivering value.

  • Champion CHS purpose and values.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations and/or Production Operations

Additional Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, supply chain or related degree.

  • Experience managing budgets.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a continuous production facility.

  • Experience leading in a collective bargaining union environment.

  • Experience with SAP.

  • Experience with LEAN and continuous improvement practices.

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations: OSHA, EPA, EEO/AA

  • Working understanding of refinery assets, production line and capability

  • Demonstrated ability to influence people within and across organizational lines

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills in communicating to supervised employees as well as cross-functional team-members.

  • Demonstrated ability and skill to analyze, interpret and use data to make timely and effective decisions

  • Demonstrated effective use of computers for communication and data analysis

  • Knowledge of products, product quality factors, and equipment capabilities

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet business demands

Physical Requirements

  • Considerable periods on feet including walking, standing, climbing steps, and climbing ladders.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and physically lift 50 lbs.

  • May be required to work while squatting, kneeling, or crawling.

  • Must be able to work in noisy, dusty, and otherwise undesirable conditions.

  • Climb ladders and work at heights up to 120 ft

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
