MUFG, a globally respected financial institution, is seeking a Director of Operations Group to lead and inspire their Manila-based team. What you'll do:

As Director of Operations Group at MUFG, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of operational delivery within the Manila office. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve guiding department heads to maintain exceptional standards in transaction processing while ensuring strict compliance with both local laws and MUFG’s comprehensive policies. Success in this role requires you to nurture talent through ongoing coaching and mentoring while championing initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce risk. By building strong relationships with front office teams and other stakeholders, you will ensure that new products are launched smoothly and that operational risks are proactively managed. Your ability to communicate clearly, adapt to evolving requirements, and foster an inclusive team culture will be essential as you help steer MUFG towards its vision of unified global operations.

  • Oversee the entire Operations Group in Manila, ensuring all transactional processes are executed with precision and in full compliance with both local regulations and MUFG’s internal policies.

  • Monitor departmental performance closely to guarantee adherence to established procedures while identifying areas for process enhancement and risk mitigation.

  • Support the implementation of regional and global initiatives by aligning local operations with MUFG’s One Global Operations strategy

  • Collaborate with front office teams to provide robust operational management support during new product design phases and risk management activities.

  • Foster a nurturing environment where coaching, mentoring, and people development are prioritised to build high-performing teams.

  • Ensure effective communication channels are maintained between local operations and regional/global stakeholders to facilitate seamless information flow.

  • Lead change management efforts related to operational transformation projects, ensuring staff engagement and smooth transitions.

  • Uphold MUFG’s reputation for integrity by maintaining rigorous internal controls and responding promptly to regulatory changes or audit findings.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required along with extensive experience in banking operations management within reputable financial institutions.

  • Your excellent communication skills enable you to connect effectively with colleagues at all levels, fostering understanding and cooperation across departments.

  • You possess thorough knowledge of MUFG’s standard operating procedures as well as sound awareness of local banking laws and regulations relevant to the Philippines market.

  • Your background includes at least ten years in managerial roles within banking—preferably focused on operations or internal control functions—demonstrating your dependability in leading large teams.

  • You have proven people management abilities supported by strong coaching, mentoring, and supportive leadership skills that encourage team growth.

  • Your organisational skills allow you to manage complex projects efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.

  • Experience supporting regional or global initiatives is highly valued; your ability to share best practices across borders sets you apart.

  • You demonstrate flexibility when adapting processes for regulatory changes or strategic shifts within the organisation.
