Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Program Support Assistant in Manhattan, Kansas
Summary As a Program Support Assistant you will provide administrative support through the accomplishment of program and clerical work at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF). Responsibilities The duties may include, but are not limited to Reviews outgoing correspondence and documents for conformance with departmental policies, grammar, and format. Composes correspondence assembles information for various reports and prepares material for presentation. Makes travel arrangements, including transportation and hotel reservations, notifying organizations and officials to be visited, and maintaining itineraries. Prepares travel vouchers with associated documentation after travel is completed. Processes time and attendance reports. Arranges appointments and conferences for the staff of assigned area. Maintains complex program files, determines need for and establishes file controls and records as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Managing multiple tasks, serving as a point of contact, and providing administrative support to supervisor. Communicating clearly and concisely in writing to produce quality documents, reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence. Using common/standard office suite software to prepare correspondence, meeting notes, reports, calendars, presentations, and spreadsheets. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education There is no education requirement. When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP/ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100. First time hires to the federal government normally start at the lowest rate of the salary range for the grade selected. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expense associated with reporting for duty will be the responsibility of the selected employee.
