Northwell Health Senior Project Manager - Clinical Research (Grants) in Manhasset, New York

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide customer-focused guidance to investigators by managing activities associated with pre-award and non-financial post-award management of sponsored research proposals and awards. This role will support the administrative lifecycle of research grants, providing specialized support to Principal Investigators (PIs) for proposal development, submission, and compliance. This role will serve as a liaison between internal departments, such as the Sponsored Projects Office, and will bridge the gap between researchers and research administration to ensure a seamless and coordinated pre- and post- award process.

Highly Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in grant administration, preferred experience in a medical school setting.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and electronic grant management software (e.g., Huron)

  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage projects and move initiatives through to completion;

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines;

  • Experience supporting federally funded clinical research studies;

  • Experience preparing or supporting grant submissions, grant budgets, just in time requests, and research performance progress reports;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partners with management to define project goals, objectives, target initiatives, timelines and budgets; assists with design of project plan; prepares project assessment, analysis, reports and recommendations; interfaces with the leadership to collect financial, statistical and operational data for analysis.

  • Plans, manages and coordinates multiple projects in support of activities to ensure goals and objectives of mid-sized project or multiple phases of large project are accomplished within prescribed time-frame and funding parameters.

  • Collaborates with the leadership in assessing and executing strategies; conducts research, identifies industry standards and new innovative practices for analysis; prepares operational analysis, flow charts, presentations and reports, as required by project specifications.

  • Evaluates analyses, identifies best practices, deficiencies, corrective actions and makes recommendations for improvements in operational processes, policies and procedures.

  • Presents analysis and recommendations to management; obtains feedback and collaborates with management to develop project improvement plans; prepares financial analysis and identifies budgetary impact of proposed recommendations.

  • Studies business approaches, applies financial models and makes recommendations around such approaches; coordinates implementation of project plans; prepares and maintains project plans, based on key stakeholder input as well as ongoing/changing needs.

  • Partners with management to implement project initiatives; partners with management to design staff education programs and coordinates implementation, participates in educational initiatives, as needed; monitors project plan performance and prepares status reports.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of project plans; evaluates implemented projects on a periodic basis and compares actual performance to pre-established metrics and business plans; partners with management to develop tools and metrics to evaluate performance of target initiatives.

  • Collects data for review and analysis; prepares analysis and reports for management; prepares additional recommendations and adjustments to plan, as needed.

  • Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Support investigators and study teams with reviewing funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, creating budgets, and ensuring compliance with funding agency (e.g., NIH) guidelines.

  • Review and submit grant applications through electronic systems ensuring accuracy and deadline adherence.

  • Ensure adherence to NIH/grantor regulations, maintain "Other Support" and biosketch records, and oversee Just-In-Time requests.

  • Act as the primary contact between PIs and the Office of Sponsored Projects, finance departments, and external collaborators.

  • Oversees team members and assigns projects/tasks based on capacity and expertise.

  • Manage an internal tracking system and produce summary reports on status and performance of grant team activities.

  • Develop trainings, guidance materials, and templates for investigators and study teams.

  • Stay up-to-date on internal and external grant policies, procedures, and regulations and ensure communication with study teams.

  • Assist with progress report guidance, management, and submission.

  • Perform related duties as required to support grant-related initiatives.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $79880.00-$136340.00/year
