United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).
The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

The Engineering Technician II/ Senior Engineering Tech will serve as the vital link between our design concepts and physical production of complex electro-mechanical systems. This role will support the engineering team and the broader OMG mission by building prototypes, conducting rigorous tests, and maintaining/repairing/troubleshooting complex bioreactor systems.
Execute routine maintenance for all custom bioreactor systems maintenance and calibration to ensure peak system performance
With help from design engineers, diagnose root cause of equipment product failures and recommend short term fixes and long term solutions as needed
Execute on equipment maintenance/training plan, ordering and inventory management
Contribute to the effort to assemble, modify, and repair complex electro-mechanical systems based on sketches, schematics, or verbal instructions. Record and manage use of material needed to assemble bioreactor systems.
Assist in drafting/executing engineering testing plans to validate product performance; precisely record data and identify anomalies
Maintain detailed lab notebooks and contribute to the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other technical documents
Perform all other duties as assigned
For this role you will need
Minimum Requirements for Engineering Tech II
2+ years of related experience with H.S. Diploma / Associate Degree
Experience with torque-limited screwdrivers, calipers, and hand tools to assemble mechanical/electrical components to build complex bioreactor system
Skilled in using machine shop equipment (power tools, 3D printer, laser cutter, etc.)
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Ability to draft, read and interpret engineering drawings and documentations
Strong communication skills; ability to explain why a failure occurred
Minimum Requirements for Senior Engineering Tech Tech
4+ years of related experience with a H.S. Diploma / Associate Degree
Experience with torque-limited screwdrivers, calipers, and hand tools to assemble mechanical/electrical components to build complex bioreactor system
Skilled in using machine shop equipment (power tools, 3D printer, laser cutter, etc.)
Familiarity with soldering (SMT and through-hole) and wire harness assembly
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Some understanding of testing and quality control (measurement tools, IPC standards and troubleshooting)
Ability to draft, read and interpret engineering drawings and documentations
Strong communication skills; ability to explain why a failure occurred
Preferred Qualifications for Engineering Tech II
Associate Degree in engineering technology (electrical, mechatronics, electromechanical) or equivalent military/trade school experiences
2+ years of post-Associate Degree experience in a hands-on technical environment in the biotech/pharma industry
Some understanding of testing and quality control (measurement tools, IPC standards and troubleshooting)
Familiarity with soldering (SMT and Through-hole) and wire harness assembly
Experience with tracing complex PCB layouts and identifying faulty components
Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Experience with perfusion-based bioreactor systems
Some understanding of fluid flow mechanics and heat transfer
Preferred Qualifications for Senior Engineering Tech
Associate Degree in engineering technology (electrical, mechatronics, electromechanical) or equivalent military/trade school experiences
4+ years of post-Associate Degree experience in a hands-on technical environment in the biotech/pharma industry
Experience with tracing complex PCB layouts and identifying faulty components
