Job Description
This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on cranes and related industrial equipment. You will work both in the shop and at customer sites in the VA/DC area, using your electrical and mechanical skills to diagnose issues, interpret blueprints and schematics, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The position requires occasional weekend and on-call work to support customer needs and minimize equipment downtime.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair cranes and associated industrial equipment at the shop and at customer sites in the VA/DC area.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on cranes, generators, yard and bridge cranes, and related tools and accessories.
Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues using PLC knowledge, multi-meters, and other diagnostic tools.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to identify faults and determine repair methods.
Repair and troubleshoot industrial equipment with a focus on safety, reliability, and minimizing downtime.
Provide professional, responsive customer service while working on-site at customer locations.
Identify required parts for repairs and create accurate parts lists for equipment in need of service.
Use company-supplied safety equipment correctly and consistently, including hard hats, safety glasses, body harnesses, and rubber electrical gloves, in compliance with company policies.
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and service-ready condition.
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, including adherence to uniform standards when required.
Assist leadership in observing and enforcing all safety practices and shop maintenance procedures.
Support occasional training activities where applicable, contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Safeguard company tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper use, storage, and accountability.
Work efficiently to meet production expectations and complete assigned jobs within required timeframes.
Be available for on-call work during weekends and off hours as needed to support customer operations.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing cranes and associated industrial equipment.
Practical electrical experience with industrial equipment, including the use of PLCs in diagnostics and control.
Proficiency using a multi-meter and other electrical testing tools for troubleshooting and verification.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience working with generators, mechanical systems, and industrial machinery.
Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance and repair in an industrial or mechanical environment.
Customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally at customer sites.
Knowledge of parts identification and the ability to create accurate parts lists for repair work.
Understanding of, and adherence to, safety practices related to cranes and electrical work.
Ability to correctly use personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, body harnesses, and rubber electrical gloves.
Capability to work efficiently in a production-driven environment with time-based performance expectations.
Willingness and ability to travel locally within the VA/DC area to customer sites.
Availability to work weekends and off hours on an on-call basis when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience repairing shop electrical tools, accessories, yard cranes, and bridge cranes.
Familiarity with PLC classes or formal training in PLCs is beneficial.
Experience working in a crane, rental, or heavy equipment environment is a plus.
Ability to support and participate in safety training and occasional technical training.
Strong sense of responsibility for safeguarding company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Professional demeanor, including the ability to represent the company positively while wearing uniforms and operating company vehicles.
Comfort working both independently and collaboratively as part of a service and maintenance team.

Work Environment
You work in a crane rental and service environment that is both shop-based and field-based, with a hard-working and collaborative team focused on productivity and timely completion of tasks. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to hot conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter, and requires moving quickly and efficiently to meet performance expectations. You use industrial tools, cranes, generators, PLC-related equipment, and standard electrical test instruments in your daily work. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with additional on-call availability for weekends and off hours. You may be required to wear company uniforms and appropriate personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, body harnesses, and rubber electrical gloves, to maintain a safe and professional work setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas Park, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
